I do agree that, although the Japanese do have certain religious beliefs and engage in worship, they don’t feel so compelled to spread their religion on others as Christians often do. In fact, more people have been killed in the quest to “Christianize” (I think i made that word up but it works) the world than any other ideology I know of. The Spanish Inquisition. The Crusades/HolyWars, etc. Of course it did a lot to civilize the barbarians of the West, so It’s a double edged sword as so many things are. Thank you for your insight. You have a wonderful mind, I can tell. Please continue to share your intellect! BTW, my great uncle was Cardinal of Spain, if you can believe that! He got eaten by cannibals while doing missionary work in Africa. Weird, huh? I guess I come from tasty stock.

However, one could argue that when it comes to religion and Darwin’s idea of “survival of the fittest” Christianity has done just that. If this theory is true, especially in social terms, hasn’t Christianity run with it? Outshining all the other competing modes of thought in America? Take other countries for example such as Japan who are not, and have never been particularly religious. Christianity has made its distinct mark on these people in less than 350 years! If that’s not social evolution, I don’t know what is.

You should really be blaming Herbert Spencer. He is the one responsible for the idea of social darwinism.

I hear ya on the darwinism as a blatant justification for greed. Darwinism is what divides us, not unites us, as a species.
