The Universe and Meaning of Life Condensed

QuickPost | System Overview | Movable Type Publishing Platform Erik, my 17 year old, wrote a paper about the universe in terms of quantum mechanics, relativity and other stuff that makes me feel really, really dumb and really, really insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Like, did you know we live in 4 of the 11 dimensions, our four being the 3-D spatial ones and time? This means Rod Steiger may have been on to something. Did you know the entire universe and the physical laws it obeys can be described by four rules in what's known as the Theory of Everything and that Einstein tried to come up with one equation that explained everything, even God and love? Okay, that's just crazy. But what blows my enchilada is the String Theory. It's complicated, so I'll just cut and paste Erik's words: "It describes quantum particles as notes on a vibrating string. If you think about a guitar string, you can’t say that A or B is more fundamental tan C. It’s the string that’s fundamental. The Superstring Theory says that if we could peek at an electron, we’d see a string vibrating in a certain mode. That string is miniscule, like 10 to the minus 33 minuscule! So the electron looks like a point particle to us. But if we strum the string so it vibrates in a different mode, then the electron turns into something else like a quark or a photon or a graviton. The whole set of vibrations represent the entire spectrum of particles. So instead of thinking there are millions of different particles, we can theorize that there is only one single object, the superstring, and those sub-atomic particles are the notes on the string. In a way, we can think of our bodies as the symphony of strings playing and physics as the laws of harmony of the superstring. Cool, huh?" So we're pretty much a collection of notes on a great big string? All I can say is that sucker needs to be tuned. I mean badly. Go away now, string-people. I wanna read my comics.
